Description

Told you guys I'd resubmit this one with a better photo though the photo is still pretty CRAPtacular. ^^;

This was entered in the National Juried Student Art Show 2004. Right now it's in storage awaiting to see if I can enter it in another contest.

No, I did not win anything at Student Art Show. But they only put up 30 of the 100 some odd peices that were entered so I was highly flatered my peice was chosen to actualy hang in the gallery... untill I discovered it was hung by mistake.

After all the flyers and anouncments had been sent out listing all the peices chosen for the gallery and thier creators... the night before the gallery opened, the jurrier hung up mine and five other artists' works.

So we got no credit for them. No bragging rights.... nothing. True the public still got to see our works... but there was no published record we had displayed our art... which is necisary for some of us budding artists to get work in this bloody town. >.<

When I complained they said there was nothing they could do... and as compinsation I was allowed to photograph my work hanging in the gallery (normaly cameras are not allowed in there). Not much of a compinsation if you ask me.

Ah well, I'll stop complaining.

About the image. It's actualy four different drawings I did in the year 2003-2004 at totaly different dates from one another. I then edited and adjusted to go together. It was my final for my Advanced Drawing class 2003-2004.

Inspired by the song Iris by the Google Dolls (I had that track on repeat every time I worked on these drawings).

Charcoal, Pencil, and Chalk Pastel.

Used refrences from an image of an Incan mummy in National Geographic, some random face shots from the magazine Seventeen, my medical books from when I was a Biology Major, and an image from The Artist's Guide to the Human Anatomy that was barrowed from a friend, the now famous Kyle Thompson.

Love this! I almost always have a song attached to a piece of work and play it repeatedly while drawing. Shame about the Art Show but I don't necessarily beleive in accidents. Your work was up because it was meant to be. Be proud!
